Shuttle runs are an effective tool to build speed endurance and should be used sparingly in your training.
One reason to use shuttle runs is to prepare the athlete for the upcoming season. Occasionally an athlete might not have a chance to play soccer with the team over summer. In this case there will not be much cutting. Therefore in order to prepare the muscles and tendons for the upcoming season shuttle runs can be used. Start with the 50 yard shuttle then progress to the 25 yard shuttle. Remember only use this type of training sparingly.
